Rappahannock County, Virginia Soil Evaluation (Perc Test) for Septic System Location
Nestled along the northeastern edge of the Thornton River, our team has recently completed a comprehensive soil evaluation for a conventional septic system, located several miles south of Lee Highway in Rappahannock County, Virginia. We are in the process of compiling a Virginia Department of Health (VDH) construction permit application packet for both primary and reserve conventional septic systems, which will soon be submitted for approval to the Environmental Health Specialist at the Rappahannock County VDH.

The soil analysis revealed that the dominant soil type on the property is Brandywine gritty loam, characterized by its highly weathered granite and gneiss composition. This well-drained sandy loam extends below 40 inches, with the water table situated more than 80 inches deep, offering excellent conditions for septic system functionality. The evaluation also shed light on several critical design factors, such as soil structure, the depth to restrictive layers such as rock, and natural drainage patterns, all of which are pivotal in designing an efficient and reliable septic system.
